Boat Kids Doing Boat Kid Stuff in Black Point
Watch Video 47 Here!
Boat kids are a unique breed. They swim, snorkel, home school, sail, explore, hike, fish, and live exciting young lives.
So we went as far South as Rudder Cut Cay. While we were there, we decided that instead of going further South to Long Island, that we would rather turn around and head back North to spend more time in Eleuthera instead of having to rush. So that puts us in Black Point, again. YAY!
This video is sort of a mix of clips from a short period while we were back in Black Point. Might as well stop there again right? I mean, were headed right by the place on our way back North, plus, they have Happy Hour. Plus there’s another cold front that’s breathing down our necks… might as well right?
So, while at Black Point, again, we hung out with several other boat families. It was really cool to see such a large and diverse group of kids (and adults) hanging out, having fun, and getting along so well despite our many differences. Isn’t that the way the world is supposed to be?
It’s funny how boat kids will amuse themselves. The simple fact is that there’s often a higher degree of creativity required to stay amused when you aren’t surrounded by toys and video games. What do boats kids do? Well, do art projects, chase each other with sticks, or have impromptu sword fights with 3′ bean pods. You’ll see.
It’s quite the adventure!
3.22.17 After we left Rudder Cut Cay, we had a beautiful sail to Black Point. There is another cold front coming in and where else is a better place to sit it out then in Black Point with other cruisers with kids? Everyone was tired from their sails to Black Point, so we all just stayed on our boats tonight to recharge. Ben and I watched the next Star Wars tonight.

3.23.17 Today the guys; Ben, Brad (Baila), Joe (Robin), and Laurent (dorénavent) all went spear fishing together. All the ladies and the kids went to the beach. The kids made a sand zoo and swam in the water. The ladies, we just enjoyed each others company and watched the kids play.
Later that evening, we went to happy hour with SV Robin and SV dorénavent. We had such a great day today. It was so nice to have so many of our new boat friends together in the same anchorage!
On a side note: A friend of mine from our hometown was in Black Point for the day. He and his family are vacationing in the Bahamas this week. They were riding through the anchorage and spotted our boat with our hometown name on it, and recognized it, so they stopped to say hi.
Beautiful Molly at dinner.
3.24.17 Today we stayed on the boat because a cold front came in last night. We did some school work, made bread, and had a yummy dinner. We also watched a family movie. Molly chose Shrek Forever.
Ben tries to scare Molly and she gives him a swift kick.
3.25.17 Today after lunch we went to shore. We met with Baila, Robin, and dorénavent at the laundromat. We did laundry while the kids hung out and did arts and crafts. After that we went to the grocery store for popsicles. Molly dropped hers on the ground while we were walking down the street. It was such a sad sight. She was so sad. We went to Scorpios to hang out and met a Sailboat Story fan. Another great day had by all.
Boat kids are the best. Look at the smile on Molly’s face, before she dropped her popsicle. She was so happy.
3.26.17 Molly went to play with Avery and Finn on SV Robin this morning. They had a great time playing together.
After lunch we went ashore for a hike to the blow hole with Baila, Robin, and our new friends on Bali Ha’i. After the hike, we went back to our boats to gather our shower stuff. Then we went over to take a shower. Katie and her son Finn (from SV Robin) felt so bad about Molly dropping her popsicle yesterday, that they bought her a new one. She was so happy, and it was so sweet of them. After we were all cleaned up, we went over to Deshamans for beer’s (pink sands!) and pizza. It was fun and that pizza is delicious. We had a really great time hanging out with everyone. The kids had fun playing together.
After dinner we all went back to our boats, Ben and I watched the next Star Wars. We decided to watch them in Machete Order, which is where you watch them in a different order from how they were created. The order is number 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6, and lastly 7.
Robin and Baila are headed out tomorrow for Warderick Wells and we’ll move to Staniel Cay with Bali Ha’i.
